George Tsekouras qualified from Agia Sofia Children s Hospital and K.A.T. Hospital, Athens, Greece in 1990.
During his surgical training, he was awarded a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) for his experimental work on the Knee Osteoarthritis.
He is an English trained Orthopedic Surgeon who worked for 4 years (1990 - 1994) at N.H.S, in several Orthopedic Hospitals in Midlands, U.K. In January 1994 he was appointed for 8 months in Leto Maternity hospital, Athens, working on Ultrasonography screening in newborns with Congenital Hip Dysplasia.
Since October 1994 has been working as full time private Orthopedic Consultant at Mykonian Hygeia Medical Centre, in Mykonos Island, Greece of which he is a co-founder.
Great interest and care has been given all those years while practicing in Mykonos Island, to responsible handling and treating of paediatric and adult cases.
He is trained and experienced in modern techniques of non operative Orthopedics. His approach to patient care is to recommend operation techniques only when these are absolutely necessary. Fluent in English he takes care during the high season of patients from the majority of cruise boats, sailing boats, and yachts which approach Mykonos Island. Patients can be examined or followed up in the clinic, hotel room or elsewhere.
English medical report is given to all foreign patients and 'fit to travel by boat or airplane' certification can be provided upon demand.
The office is easy to access (absence of stairs) for all type of patients, specially for multitrauma and handicapped cases. It is part of the only private Medical Centre nowadays on Mykonos Island, where eight other full time specialists are at work.
Great interest and care has been given to foreign patients in order to facilitate understanding of their Orthopedic or trauma problem, the therapeutic options, the treatment upon leaving the clinic or travelling to other destinations.
The office staff is professional, friendly and courteous. During office hours, callers will always speak directly to the Surgeon or to staff member and not to a voice menu system. The office does not close at lunchtime and working hours during the high season are stretched to accommodate patient s needs.
